Ontario Call To Action

Picture
Since 2005, breed-specific legislation (BSL) has been in place in the province of Ontario, Canada impacting dogs labeled as "pitbulls" which includes American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. The archaic ban can also impact many mixed breed dogs and any dogs that loosely resemble a "pitbull" due to their appearance. Scientific studies, veterinary, canine, and public safety experts agree that BSL and breed-based bans are ineffective and a waste of public resources. Even worse, they are discriminatory towards responsible owners and punish dogs based only on their appearance or breed, sometimes resulting in the seizure of loved pets that have done nothing wrong. If you agree that the ban should be repealed, please take action by sending a message to Ontario MPPs using the form below.

Make a difference

Please, Ontario: Contact your MPPs, ask for breed neutral laws by supporting Bill 147, be polite and informative. Here is the current ordinance. Use the form below to send a message to Ontario MPPs. You can also support the Ontario Coalition Against BSL team (Facebook) that is spearheading the effort to repeal the breed-discriminatory ban in Ontario. Other teams and resources working to repeal the ban in Ontario include: EndTheBanCa and the Hershey Anti-BSL group (Facebook | Web).
