Denver, CO Call To Action
This campaign has ended,
thank you for your support!
On February 10, 2020 the Denver City Council voted to repeal Denver's archaic ban on "pitbull-type" dogs that has been in place since 1989. While this was a huge success for great dogs and the citizens of Denver, Mayor Hancock unfortunately vetoed the updated legislation. Unless the City Council overturns the mayor's veto, the ban will remain in effect. The City Council is expected to have another vote on Monday, February 24 to overturn the mayor's veto and end the ban once and for all. Scientific studies, veterinary, canine, and public safety experts agree that BSL and breed-based bans are ineffective and a waste of public resources. Even worse, they are discriminatory towards responsible owners and punish dogs based only on their appearance or breed, sometimes resulting in the seizure of loved pets that have done nothing wrong. If you agree that the ban should be repealed, please take action by sending a message to Denver City Council members using the form below.
